Description
DN10 ATEX 2/2 Way Coaxial Solenoid Valve – RSG 29010
The RSG 29010 is a DN10 ATEX explosion-protected 2/2 way direct-acting coaxial solenoid valve designed for reliable fluid and gas control in hazardous-area installations. It operates from 0 to 20 Bar without requiring a minimum differential pressure and is backpressure-tight to 16 Bar.
Available as normally closed or normally open, the RSG 29010 combines a compact coaxial construction with an integrated explosion-protected solenoid operator. The manufacturer specifies ATEX II 2G Ex em II T4 for gas hazardous areas and II 2D td A21 IP65 T130°C for dust applications.
The DN10 valve is available with standard 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" BSP connections, a 10mm nominal diameter and manufacturer-rated Kv 2.5 m³/h flow capacity.
Valve Function & Operation
The RSG 29010 is a direct-acting 2/2 way coaxial solenoid valve available in two switching configurations.
290A10 – Normally Closed
The valve remains closed when electrically de-energised and opens when power is applied.
290B10 – Normally Open
The valve remains open when electrically de-energised and closes when power is applied.
The direct-acting construction means that no minimum differential pressure is required, allowing operation from 0 Bar.
DN10 Ports & Connections
Standard DN10 connections:
✓ G1/4 BSP
✓ G3/8 BSP
✓ G1/2 BSP

Pressure & Performance
Operating Pressure: 0 to 20 Bar
Reverse Pressure: Up to 16 Bar
Minimum Differential: 0 Bar
Nominal Diameter: DN10
Orifice: 10mm
Kv Flow Coefficient: 2.5 m³/h
Water Flow: Approx. 51 L/min @ 1 Bar ΔP
Flow direction:
P → A: Up to 20 Bar
A → P: Up to 16 Bar
Flow Capacity
The DN10 RSG 29010 provides a conventional manufacturer-rated Kv flow coefficient of 2.5 m³/h.
Practical flow data for your configured valve gives approximately 51 litres/minute of water at 1 Bar pressure difference.
This provides useful flow capacity from a relatively compact DN10 hazardous-area coaxial valve.
Direct-Acting Coaxial Design
The RSG 290 uses a direct-acting coaxial construction with the moving valve element positioned along the axis of the process flow.
The sectional drawing on page 2 shows the principal components including the adapter fittings, valve seat, plunger, solenoid, spring and PTFE rod seals.
This construction provides:
✓ Zero Differential Operation
✓ Direct Solenoid Actuation
✓ Compact Installation
✓ High Cycling Capability
✓ Reverse Pressure Resistance
✓ Reliable Fluid Isolation
✓ Vacuum Configuration Available
ATEX Hazardous Area Protection
The RSG 290 Series is specifically designed for hazardous-area installations requiring explosion-protected electrical actuation.
Explosion Protection:
II 2G Ex em II T4
II 2D td A21 IP65 T130°C
The manufacturer specifies these protection markings together with IP65 protection.
This makes the valve suitable for appropriately classified gas and dust hazardous areas, subject to correct installation and the requirements of the specific hazardous-area application.
High Viscosity Fluids
The RSG 29010 can control compatible fluids with viscosities up to 500 cSt.
Typical applications can include:
✓ Hydraulic Oils
✓ Lubricating Oils
✓ Process Oils
✓ Viscous Process Fluids
✓ Compatible Industrial Liquids
Actual suitability depends upon fluid viscosity, operating temperature, pressure and compatibility with the selected wetted materials.
Construction & Materials
Available body materials include:
✓ Brass
✓ Nickel-Plated Brass
✓ AISI 303 Stainless Steel
✓ AISI 316 Stainless Steel
Internals: Stainless Steel 316L
Standard Seal Construction
Standard sealing materials include:
✓ FKM Static Seals
✓ PTFE Dynamic Seals
✓ FKM Seat Seal
Optional configurations include:
✓ PTFE with NBR
✓ PTFE with EPDM
✓ PTFE Sealing Options
NBR and EPDM are manufacturer-defined optional seal materials.
Media Compatibility
The RSG 29010 can be used with compatible liquids and gases according to the selected body and sealing materials.
Typical applications include:
✓ Hydraulic Oils
✓ Lubricating Oils
✓ Process Liquids
✓ Cooling Fluids
✓ Compatible Chemicals
✓ Compatible Gases
✓ Fluids Up To 500 cSt
For aggressive chemicals, specialist gases or unusual process fluids, compatibility should be confirmed against all wetted materials before ordering.
Special Service Options
The RSG 290 Series can be configured for specialist process requirements in addition to standard hazardous-area fluid control.
Available configurations include:
✓ Oxygen Service
✓ Vacuum Service
✓ Oil & Grease-Free Construction
✓ Special Connections
✓ Manual Override
✓ Mounting Brackets
✓ Modular Manifold Systems
The manufacturer's ordering system specifically identifies manual override, vacuum, mounting brackets and oil/grease-free configurations.
Vacuum Service
A dedicated vacuum version is available for the RSG 290 Series.
Because the valve is direct acting, operation does not depend upon process pressure or pressure differential, making the design particularly useful for vacuum and low-pressure applications.
Vacuum service should be specified when ordering to ensure the appropriate valve and sealing configuration is supplied.
Oxygen & Clean Service
The RSG 29010 can be supplied degreased for oxygen service.
Oxygen applications require appropriate cleaning procedures and material compatibility, so oxygen service should always be specified when ordering rather than using a standard industrial valve.
Temperature
For the current ATEX configuration, the manufacturer specifies:
Media Temperature: -20°C to +40°C
Ambient Temperature: -30°C to +40°C
Coil & Electrical Specification
Solenoid Type: ATEX Protected
