In order to establish a suitable electrical connection, the use of ferrules for fine stranded cables are mandatory. Be aware that the wire (conductor) cross-section affects the maximum current load (Amp) capacity.

A VDR (Voltage Dependent Resistor), also known as a varistor, is used in electrical circuits to protect components from voltage spikes or surges. When incorporated into a solenoid valve's circuit, the VDR helps protect the solenoid coil from transient voltage spikes that can occur when the coil is de-energized.

Here's how it works:

Surge Protection: When the solenoid valve is turned off (de-energized), the magnetic field that was generated by the coil collapses rapidly. This collapse can induce a high-voltage spike (also known as a back EMF or inductive kickback) across the coil. The VDR, being sensitive to voltage, will conduct current when this voltage exceeds its threshold, thereby clamping the spike and protecting the rest of the circuit.

Voltage Clamping: The VDR has a non-linear resistance characteristic. Under normal operating voltages, it has a high resistance, effectively acting as an open circuit. However, when a voltage spike occurs, the resistance drops sharply, allowing the VDR to absorb and dissipate the excess energy, thus preventing damage to the solenoid coil or other components.

Longevity of Components: By protecting against these spikes, the VDR helps increase the lifespan of the solenoid coil and any associated control electronics by preventing excessive voltage from reaching them.

In summary, a VDR in a solenoid valve circuit functions as a protective device to prevent damage from voltage spikes, ensuring the reliable operation and longevity of the valve and its control circuitry.
