Valves for Water Leak Detection.
Water plays an essential part in daily life, and generally flows through a lattice of pipes in homes and commercial buildings unnoticed. However, when water leaks, it can be a destructive force that can destroy electrical systems, ruin building contents, and even harm the structural integrity of the building itself.
One large problem with water leaks is that they are generally hidden behind or under various structures and typically will not give any warning that there is a leak about to occur or is occurring. The effect of this is that water has time to cause serious damage and cost, and in the event that the building is unoccupied at the time of the leak occurring, this can have a huge impact. New, smart solutions to prevent water damage.
With the risk of such large-scale damage, financial and health implications, fitting a leak detection system gives peace of mind for commercial or domestic property. Leak detection systems have been available and fitted to properties for some time, however there are also smarter wireless solutions with point to point control. These digital solutions can detect water leaks immediately, shut off the water supply, and therefore limit or even prevent damage.
The ABVM WRAS approved motor actuated ball valve is the most compact, 100,000 cycle reliability, 2 watt eco-friendly low power, IP67 protected solution designed for UK water leak detection market.
The low power combined with the valve design prevents limescale build-up normally associated with solenoid valves being energised for long periods of time due to the solenoid coil heat generation, which is especially beneficial in hard water areas.
The ABVM motor actuated ball valve offers full flow and is unaffected by rust particles and other debris normally found in our water systems, making them an ideal water control solution for rainwater harvesting systems as well.
The ball valve design is not affected by pressure differences, as solenoid valves typically require a minimum 0.3 Bar pressure difference (Except the Shako PU220 WRAS 0-10 Bar solenoid valve).
Featuring Connexion ABVM electric WRAS approved ball valve, these systems can be either hard-wired or wireless, the motor ball valve is available as 3 volts for battery powered and wireless systems, 6-24vAC/DC or 110-240vAC for wired sensors or energy harvesting technology for both switches and sensors, and can be supplied with failsafe closed, failsafe open, 3 wire or modulating control functionality, with options for manual override (9-24v only) and open and closed feed back switches at minimal additional cost.
With PIR sensor systems detecting when a person enters the room, we suggest the Shako PU220D and PU225D WRAS solenoid valve for frequent use to open and turn the water supply on for a pre-set length of time. Once the room is vacated, the power is cut off and the solenoid valve closes, avoiding potential water wastage and damage due to overflows.
Another advantage to this wireless technology is that light switches and water detection sensors can be installed without mains power. Removing mains electrical fittings from high-risk water leak areas ensures that areas such as washrooms are as safe as possible, as there is no risk to life from low voltage detection sensors encountering water.
